A Free Research Guide For Your College, High School, or Organization

Within the next two weeks, Ehipassiko Press, LLC will release the Schoolcraft College Edition of A Skillful Approach to College Research. We will then work with other colleges, high schools, and organizations to personalize the book for your students/patrons.

We will publish your branded edition for free online while making paperback copies available at cost of production (approximately $12.25). There is no cost to you for working with us. A Skillful Approach to College Research is now available for free online or through Amazon at cost of production.

A Skillful Approach to College Research is designed to support students enrolled in discipline specific courses that do not focus on teaching composition. However, it can be used in composition classes as well. Because it was released under a Creative Commons license, professors can copy sections of the book into their course management systems or make the entire book available to their students. An individual student could successfully use the book to support their research in a class even if the book is not assigned. Although the primary audience is college students, A Skillful Approach to College Research is also relevant to high school students.

Specialized Editions

Ehipassiko Press will work with individual colleges—as well as high schools, libraries, and other organizations—to personalize the book for their students. For more information, please contact us at info@ehipassikopress.org.

“Addiction Recovery Through Buddhist Wisdom” Published

We are pleased to announce the publication of Steven L. Berg’s Addiction Recovery Through Buddhist Wisdom: A Dharma Recovery Journal.

Addiction Recovery Through Buddhist Wisdom is designed as a reflective journal that provides questions/prompts for individuals who want to incorporate Buddhism into their recovery from addiction. Twenty six short essays reflecting on the role of Buddhism and recovery are included. Although the focus of the book is on recovery from alcoholism and substance abuse, the content is relevant for people suffering from other addictions. The book builds on the work of the Recovery Dharma organization but is not affiliated with them.

Free copies of the book are available on our website. A paperback edition is available through Amazon for $10.49, the cost of production. Neither Steven L. Berg nor Ehipassiko Press receive any royalties or other compensation from the publication and distribution of this book.

Dr. Berg is a Theravada Buddhist with over 40 years of recovery from alcoholism. In 1999, he received his PhD in American Studies from Michigan State University where he wrote his dissertation on Alcoholics Anonymous. He is the author/editor of four other books and numerous articles on addiction recovery.

“Forgiving Ourselves and Others” Published

We are pleased to announce the publication of Bhante Kusala’s Forgiving Ourselves and Others, the third in our “A Dhamma Talk and Reflective Journal Series.”

Forgiving Ourselves and Others begins with a short essay that explains why it is necessary to forgive ourselves as well as other sentient beings. It then provides guidance on how to move toward forgiveness.

In his dhamma talk, Bhante Kusala mentions several teachings of the Gautama Buddha, teachings that are more fully explained in the chapters following the talk. As part of these chapters, questions designed to help the reader reflect on the content of the book are included. Because plenty of space is provided for the reader to reflect on the questions, the book doubles as a journal. Although it is written from a Buddhist perspective, the book contains valuable insights for anyone interested in forgiving themselves and others.

Free copies of the book are available on our website. A paperback edition is available through Amazon for cost of production. Neither Bhante Kusala nor Ehipassiko Press receive any royalties or other compensation from the publication and distribution of this book.

Impacting Our First Group of Students

Today, Bhanthe Sankichcha’s Five Factors for Positive Change was the topic of a presentation at the “Student Leadership Training” held at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan. Approximately 20 students were introduced to how implementing positive change impacts their role as student leaders. The session was facilitated by Ehipassiko Press’ publisher, Steven L. Berg. Because the book was just published this week, we weren’t able to distribute copies to the students, but Dr. Berg promised to send the students copies of the paperback edition, copies that will arrive in their mailboxes next week.

Ehipassiko Press encourages investigation. We are honored to have been given the opportunity to help students investigate ways to make their own lives better which will make them better student leaders.

Word Version of “Learning from Others” Uploaded

This evening we were contacted by someone who really enjoyed reading the free .pdf version of Bhanthe Sankichcha’s Learning from Others. The only problem was that he couldn’t type answers to the questions using the .pdf file. “It would be nice to have a Microsoft Word version available,” he commented.

If only all problems were as easy to fix as this one! We have uploaded a Microsoft Word version of Learning from Others to the Ehipassiko Press website.

We appreciated the suggestion that allowed us to improve our services.
