Ehipassiko Press

Founded in June 2023, Ehipassiko Press, LLC is dedicated to publishing Open Educational Resources (OERs), with an initial focus on education, spirituality, and addiction recovery. Since then, our mission has evolved to embrace any publication that encourages self-reflection. We invite readers to actively engage with our authors on the printed page, which is why many of our books are designed with generous margins-space for readers to annotate, question, respond, sketch, or write other types of marginalia.

As part of our expanded vision, we launced a new Student Voices series in 2024, featuring reflective journals written by college students.

We are also beginning to explore works of fiction and poetry. Although our specific interests in these genres are still taking shape, we welcome queries from authors whose work promotes self-reflection and personal growth. Your proposals help refine our direction.

Because of our commitment to quality education, Ehipassiko Press publishes will publish textbooks and workbooks in any discipline.

While not all of our publications are Buddhist in content, we extend the Buddhist tradition of not selling Dhamma to all our publications. Therefore, all of our books are published under Creative Commons licenses and made freely available online. Print editions are sold at cost of production via Amazon.

Our attorney told us that we have an unusual business model because we literally have no income stream. Neither our authors nor Ehipassiko Press receives royalties or compensation from the distribution of our books.

Ehipassiko: Encouraging Investigation

Two monks once told the Gautama Buddha that they had overheard people speaking critically of him. The Buddha replied that they should listen carefully;mdashthose critics might be right. This openness to reflection and willingness to consider a variety of views embodies the spirit of ehipassiko, the spirit of encouraging investigation.
