Forthcoming in September: “Forgiving Ourselves and Others”

Ehipassiko Press is pleased to announce that we will be publishing Bhante Kusala’s Forgiving Ourselves and Others toward the end of September 2023. This is the third book in our “A Dhamma Talk and Reflective Journal Series.”

In his dhamma talk, Bhante Kusala mentions several teachings of the Gautama Buddha, teachings that are more fully explained in the chapters following the talk. As part of these chapters, questions designed to help the reader reflect on the content of the book are included. Because plenty of space is provided for the reader to reflect on the questions, the book doubles as a journal. Although it is written from a Buddhist perspective, the book contains valuable insights for anyone interested in forgiving themselves and others.

Call for Submissions: “My First Semester”

People around school house.

Ehipassiko Press is soliciting manuscripts of 500-1,500 words for My First Semester: Advice from College Students to High School Students. The book will be written by current college undergraduate students giving advice to American high school Juniors and Seniors on what to expect during their first semester of college. The book will consist of a series of short essays focusing on a specific piece of advice inspired by the author’s experience as a first semester college student.

Although we are officially accepting manuscripts until 1 June 2024, please note that this call for submissions is not a competition. Early submissions are encouraged. Once we have enough quality essays for the book, we will stop accepting submissions.

A formal “Call for Submissions” and other details concerning My First Semester: Advice from College Students to High School Students are available on our website.

Impacting Our First Group of Students

Today, Bhanthe Sankichcha’s Five Factors for Positive Change was the topic of a presentation at the “Student Leadership Training” held at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan. Approximately 20 students were introduced to how implementing positive change impacts their role as student leaders. The session was facilitated by Ehipassiko Press’ publisher, Steven L. Berg. Because the book was just published this week, we weren’t able to distribute copies to the students, but Dr. Berg promised to send the students copies of the paperback edition, copies that will arrive in their mailboxes next week.

Ehipassiko Press encourages investigation. We are honored to have been given the opportunity to help students investigate ways to make their own lives better which will make them better student leaders.

“Five Factors for Positive Change” Published

Bhanthe Sankichcha’s Five Factors for Positive Change is now available. You may download a free copy of the book in either Microsoft Word or in .PDF format from the Ehipassiko Press website. A paperback edition is available from Amazon for $3.83. Because Ehipassiko Press does not mark up the price of any book sold on Amazon over production costs, we make no income on any sales through Amazon.

This book begins with a short essay on how we can make positive changes in our lives. It is followed by questions designed to help the reader reflect on the content. Because plenty of space is provided for the reader to reflect on the questions, the book doubles as a journal. Although it is written from a Buddhist perspective, Five Factors for Positive Change contains valuable insights for anyone interested in personal growth.

We are especially grateful to the following individuals without whose volunteer efforts this book would not have been published: Jessica Worden-Jone (editor), Josselyn Moore (copy editor), Carson Sangala (research assistance), Antonio Sieira (background information), and artists from Pixabay.
